Coup de coeur pour JONONE - Dans les pinceaux d'Émilie

From July 10 to August 31, 2015, the Magda Danysz gallery presents once again JonOne in Shanghai for an awaited exhibition. On this occasion, the artist in artistic residence will perform a series of drawings and paintings especially designed for this solo show. Famous artist, JonOne starts to tag subways of New York city in 1970. Gradually, he developed his art to the abstraction and became a key figure of street art all over the world. In 2009, his commitment has enabled the establishment of a Parisian exhibition only dedicated to Street Art at the Fondation Cartier. More recently, JonOne realized the work "Liberté, égalité, fraternité" for the National Assembly as a tribute to the foundations of the French Republic.

By using colors that are full of energy, JonOne creates works full of life which are reminiscent of the drippings of Jackson Pollock. Alongside, this artist pursues his work and he is always inspired by the so-called popular culture, especially one that he knew in New -York. JonOne relies on the color of movement, the gesture and the form to create all over works which are likely to express some agitation, a rhythm, which reflect a desire to live, a desire of freedom. Recognized for his canvases and his work worldwide, JonOne considers himself as an "abstract expressionist" that must constantly renew itself.
