Co-sponsored by the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, “Echoes of Virtue: Exhibition of Distinguished Faculty, ‘Virtue and Artistic Excellence’ Teachers, and Young Teachers from the Central Academy of Fine Arts”, opened at Suzhou Art Museum on December 23, 2024. Lin Mao, President of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and Ji Jing, Deputy Mayor of Suzhou Municipal People’s Government, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony, and Wang Xiaolin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, presided over the opening ceremony. Zhu Min, Chairman of the Suzhou CPPCC, Feng Zhiguo, Director of the Faculty Department (Director of the Personnel Department and Director of the Talent Office) and Director of the Oil Painting Department of the China Academy of Art, Shi Ling, Director of the Faculty Department (Director of the Personnel Department) of the Party Committee of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, as well as responsible leaders from relevant departments of Suzhou City and the Central Academy of Fine Arts, representatives of ‘Virtue and Artistic Excellence’ Teachers, teachers newly enrolled in 2024, and postdoctoral teachers attended the opening ceremony. Xia Libin, Deputy Secretary of the Direct Party Branch of the Department of Oil Painting, delivered a speech as a representative of the teachers.

With “Echoes of Virtue” as the title, this exhibition intends to promote the inheritance of aesthetic education, carry forward the spirit of aesthetic education, and perpetuate the centennial learning origin of CAFA. The exhibition invites 72 teachers from three generations to exhibit 137 paintings and calligraphy works, 12 sculptures, 3 videos, 88 books, a total of 240 works, showing the creations and teaching achievements of distinguished teachers, ‘Virtue and Artistic Excellence’ teachers and young teachers from CAFA, covering the artistic skills in multiple art fields such as painting, sculpture, new media, design, and art theory. All of the participating teachers uphold a high degree of cultural consciousness, keep a close eye on the epochal pulse, while focusing on inheritance and relay, keeping on the integrity and innovation. Taking art and beauty as their media, they have inherited the CAFA spirit, taken hold in the era, and paid attention to life in the process of studying traditions, refining their skills. Through unique artistic perspectives and superb artistic expressions, they demonstrate the profound cultural accumulation of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and the vigorous atmosphere among faculty members.
