I do not see that art has any ties to creation. To me, art is a kind of experience. In other words, I get to learn about myself through my own working process. The physical human body is, in my eyes, something much more completed than art. My work is to reveal this kind of complexity. I think it is an amazing thing.
Yang Maoyuan
Developing an instant affinity for art since his youth, Yang Maoyuan enrolled and graduated from the Print Department, Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 1989. He currently lives and works in Beijing now. Yang Maoyuan’s studio is at the Tailing Village in the Ming Tombs area, Changping (north of the city of Beijing). He turned a formerly grain supply center into his lofty and peaceful studio with few alternations.
