On July 20, 2014, the award ceremony of “CAISSA RISING ARTING——THE REALM OF ADVAITA 2014 Annual Nomination Exhibition for Students of Contemporary Art Academies”, held by Today Art Museum and Caissa Touristic has been officially launched on the floor 3 at Building No.1, Today Art Museum. First held in 2006, “Annual Nomination Exhibition for Students of Contemporary Art Academies” is the first pro bono art prize for college students founded by the non-profit art museum in China. The Annual Nomination Exhibition has had widespread concern with the art community as it matures it's operation, authoritative technicality and impartial selection mechanism, and it has successfully entered the ninth session this year.
On the topic of “The Realm of Advaita”, “2014 Annual Nomination Exhibition for Students of Contemporary Art Academies” encourages younger artists to abandon the secular-minded motivation of “For entertainment” or “Of a standard” during their creation. We hope that they reflect their own experience with a pure soul, which also generates new modes of vision, perception and evaluation. As it is there is a “Moderation of learning, the realm of advaita and the infinite evidence of practice”, young artists need to use the double-foot model of the soul and the value model to explore the unlimited scenery that belongs to art.
“2014 Annual Nomination Exhibition for Students of Contemporary Art Academies” received more than 6000 works by more than 5000 students from more than 100 art colleges and universities around the world, 190 finalists, including 35 works of traditional Chinese painting, 46 oil paintings, 14 prints, 51 works of photography and video, 27 installation pieces and sculpture and 17 other works. The finalists started to exhibit on July 18, the judges successively visited the exhibition during the opening exhibition before July 17, in order to select the works, so that the selection process was really fair and transparent. The Annual Nomination Exhibition invites the judicial council which includes Leng Jun, Yue Minjun, Jiang Hongwei, Shang Yang, Hang Chunxiao, Wu Hongliang, Wu Yi, Shi Chong, Jiang Ji’an, Zhang Gan, Xu Lei, Gao Peng and other famous artists and scholars.
On the afternoon of July 20, 2014, the winners of “CAISSA RISING ARTING——THE REALM OF ADVAITA 2014 Annual Nomination Exhibition for Students of Contemporary Art Academies” stood out from 190 finalists! Zhu Jian won the Special Award; Jiang Tong won the “Leng Jun Named Award”, Chen Xuanrong won the “Jiang Hongwei Named Award”, Zhang Zhaoying won the “Shang Yang Named Award”, Qian Ye won the “Jiang Ji’an Named Award”. In addition, it also awarded three Gold Awards, 6 Silver Awards, 12 Bronze Awards, 1 Excellent Curatorial Team and 11 Excellent Awards.
The exhibition is on display at Building No.2 and Building No.3, Today Art Museum from July 18 to August 11, 2014.
