The second is “artistic expression”. The flashing screen as a kind of technique was a great discovery during the 1970s when video art was born. Nowadays it is found everywhere in video art works. However some artists do not use this particular technique to express their concept, instead using it as a way to announce they have made video art. Since we are living in a time when too much “strobe flash” occupies our eyes, the artist suggests that video art should go back to its true self. Using concepts of time, space and movement brings the media back to what it should be – something more than just flashing lights.
His recentwork, (Action 1-3) he recorded three different types of actions and by expanding them in time through the lens, suggests how video art can effect the perception of time and space.
