Participants of the ifva Awards are all carrying sparks of creativity, ignited through their works. For all five categories of the Awards, works that have entered the final round all have their creativity exploding, as you will have a chance to experience at the Festival. For those failing to become finalists but still recommended by jurors, you can still see the fire of creativity burning, equally vigorously. “Surveillance” seems to be in conflict with “creativity”, but the media art exhibition “CINEMA 2.0 – Surviving the Glass System” will examine how creative practices can be intriguingly connected to surveillance, if not to the extent of being fuelled by it.
To pass on the torch of creativity, ifva has been organising various image media education programmes, such as “ifva Young Filmmakers” and “All About Us”. Fruits of these projects, alongside selected works from “HONG KONG SHORT FILMS: NEW ACTION EXPRESS”, will be showcased at the Festival. The newly launched Jockey Club ifva Everywhere project, exclusively funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, will have some activities featured at this year’s ifva Festival, such as Master Class and Open-air Screening. All About Us 2015/16 : Imagination Student Creative Film Showcase
A creative film production scheme designed especially for ethnic minority youths in Hong Kong. For the sixth consecutive year, students continue to transform their stories through moving images. In six different shorts, it refracts the multiple layers of ups and downs, friendship, love, and the students’ responses to happenings around them. Outstanding works from the 36-hour Intensive Shooting Challenge will also be screened. Creativity breaks all barriers to connect different communities across ethnic groups.

ifva Young Filmmakers 2015/16: Identity Student Creative Film Showcase
Supported by WYNG Masters Award, “ifva Young Filmmakers” aims to inspire teenagers to express themselves, share their ideas and viewpoints through moving images. Through trainings and learning experiences, five teaching artists (Joseph Wu, Judy Chu, Lai Yan-chi Mo, Kenji Wong, Wong Yee Mei) stimulate creative ideas and inspire young people’s thinking towards the theme. NEW ACTION EXPRESS Short Film Highlights
HONG KONG SHORT FILM: NEW ACTION EXPRESS (NAE) aims at broadening the horizons of Hong Kong’s creative talents by sponsoring them to participate in international film festivals. Six award-winning titles screened at the 2016 Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and Market are now brought back to the local platform.
