“Chinese Ink of the Times – Exhibition of Chinese Painting & Calligraphy by the School of Chinese Painting, CAFA, Celebrating the 19th CPC National Congress” opened at Yan Huang Art Museum at 10:30 on 19 October. The exhibition is organized by the Party Branch of the School of Chinese Painting, CAFA, undertaken by Yan Huang Art Museum, themed on “Celebrating the 19th CPC National Congress, Together Creating a Chinese Dream”, to celebrate the great development & change of the party & the country, as well as the harmony & happy social life, in the form of Chinese painting and calligraphy.
Gao Hong, Party Secretary of CAFA, Cui Xiaodong, Director of Yan Huang Art Museum, Xu Juan, Deputy Minister of the Organization Department of Party Committee of CAFA, Xu Xinli, Deputy Director of the Propaganda Department of Party Committee, CAFA, Jin Rilong, Director of the Personnel Division of CAFA, as well as party leaders of the faculties, teachers and students from CAFA attended the exhibition. The opening ceremony was hosted by Yu Guanghua, Party Secretary of the School of Chinese Painting, CAFA.
The 19th CPC National Congress is held in an historical location of China which comprehensively develops a moderately prosperous society and flourishing development in art, as well as a socialist society with Chinese features, while the relationships between the prosperity of Chinese development & art, and the growth of artists & scholars are issues of concern and are expected by the teachers and students. Gao Hong, Secretary of the Party Committee of CAFA, addressed the opening ceremony and spoke highly of the exhibition of “Chinese Ink of the Times”: “The exhibition is a presentation of the achievements of the 19th CPC National Congress. On the one hand, it shows the concern and expectation of the 19th CPC National Congress by the teachers and artists from CAFA. On the other hand, it reflects that CAFA, in response to the call of the party, develops artistic creations, to blend the requirement of “profound thought, exquisite art, and exquisite production” into the creation, carrying forward the spirit of artistic innovation, to complete the responsibility and mission of the training of masters. Finally, the exhibition fully embodies the distinctive characteristics of the activities of CAFA’s party, fully playing the advantages of the academy, showing the artistic style of a new era.”
The teaching and research of the School of Chinese Painting, CAFA, develops along with the times, and are based on traditions, developing along with the times, concerns about society and life, after several generations of effort. The exhibition of “Chinese Ink of the Times” showcases a total of 128 works of Chinese calligraphy and painting by 98 teachers and students from the School of Chinese Painting, CAFA, covering a variety of creative methods such as meticulous painting, freehand, heavy color and mixed media, both including sketches & creation by the teachers and students from CAFA, and the creative results, which are rich in content, in various forms, of the teachers & students who have learned General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech and the creative spirit of Chinese painting and calligraphy art is blended into the creation that keeps pace with the time.
Brush & ink and the times have always been the eternal topic of art, “Brush & Ink follows the times”, the use of the brush & ink to showcase people’s livelihood and the spirit of the times has always been an important task in art creation, and also the artists’ response and expression of the country. Looking back at one hundred years of the glorious history of CAFA, it has always had the same fate as new China. In October, the School of Chinese Painting, CAFA, launched a show of Chinese painting & calligraphy at Yan Huang Art Museum, with excellent works of a traditional Chinese cultural spirit and the spirit of the times as a tribute to the 19th CPC National Congress on the occasion of the 19th CPC National Congress is held, to present a positive energy, sense of responsibility and political awareness of all teachers and students who are under the leadership of the party committee of the school. At the same time, the exhibition also showcases the creation, teaching and research of Chinese painting & calligraphy of CAFA which inherits the accumulation of art knowledge & cultivation of the previous generations of teachers, enduring great hardships to move forwards, on the road of the integration of the tradition and innovation, as well as the brush & ink work of the times. The exhibition remains on view till October 24.
