On January 23rd, 2021, jointly organized by the Central Academy of Fine Arts(abbr. CAFA), the County Party Committee and County Government of Xiong’an, Jingdezhen Ceramic Culture Tourism Group, “Witnessing the Rise of Xiong’an”: A Group Exhibition by CAFA Teachers and Students was unveiled at CAFA Taoxichuan Museum. This exhibition is the first offline exhibition featuring works after the launch of the online platform of “xuexi.cn”and the opening of the Xiong’an G-series High-speed Railway Station on December 27th, 2020. Mr. Fan Di’an acts as the chief planner of the exhibition, Lyu Pinchang is the academic chair, Zhang Lujiang and Zhang Han are co-curators for the exhibition, and Huang Zhen and Tan Bin are co-ordinators of the exhibition.

Mr. Huang Jinlong, Executive Deputy Mayor of Jingdezhen, addressed the exhibition, “This exhibition brings together artworks created by a new generation of creators who have witnessed the construction of Xiong’an and they convey their inheritance of revolutionary traditions and the red cultural spirit. This exhibition is quite significant as these artworks do not only reflect the national style and the epochal trend, but they also reflect the national cultural character and an atmosphere of national spirit.”

Mr. Lyu Pinchang, Vice President of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute and a professor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, said in his speech, “CAFA actively responded to the call of the Party Committee and established the “Witnessing the Rise of Xiong’an Creation Group” under the leadership of President Fan Di’an. This exhibition is the first display featuring the creative team’s achievements and 135 works created on this theme are exhibited. The exhibition is divided into four sections: “Future Prosperity”, “Resettlement of Home”, “Stories of the Old Town” and “Picturesque Scenery”. From multiple perspectives, these works record the past and current situation in Xiong’an, they observed the tremendous changes in social reality and used art to tell stories of the epoch. Through this exhibition, artists from the Central Academy of Fine Arts devoted themselves to their creations and expressed the consciousness of the people.”

Professor Zhang Lujiang, curator for this exhibition and Director of the Oil Painting Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, sent a congratulatory letter to the opening ceremony via video, “All teachers and students participating in this themed exhibition were impressed by the “Xiong’an Spirit” displayed by the builders of Xiong’an New Area and at this historical moment, they practiced the CAFA philosophy of “modeling for China” and their works reflect the voice of epoch, people’s endeavor while invigorating the national spirit and cultivating noble sentiments.”

Mr. Lyu Jinquan, Chairman of Jingdezhen Artists Association and Vice President of Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute, said in his speech, “The CAFA team who “Witnessing Xiong’an Creation” use their brushes to express the changes in Xiong’an New District reflecting that Chinese construction is in full swing.”

Mr. Liu Yuanchang, a master artist of Chinese arts and crafts, said in his speech, “These works capture the great changes in the Xiong’an New Area which is of great significance. Through this exhibition, I think artists should explore the historical scenes and reflect on people and things around us as well as the changes that are taking place around us.”

Mr. Liu Zili, Chairman of Jingdezhen Ceramic Culture Tourism Group, stated, “This exhibition shortened the distance between Xiong’an and Jingdezhen. The exhibition records the growth and changes of Xiong’an in the form of oil paintings and it looks forward to the future of Xiong’an. I think the exhibition has endowed Taoxichuan with a very valuable spiritual wealth. Taoxichuan has always taken the construction of Xiong’an New District as an example. Such an exhibition connects the constructions of Xiong’an New Area and Taoxichuan and it provides a great opportunity to build Taoxichuan into a world-class neighborhood with Xiong’an.”
The exhibition will remain on view till March 1st, 2021.
