On May 1, 2024 CAFA Graduation Season was officially unveiled at CAFA Art Museum. Just as the theme “Direction of the Heart” contains good wishes and sincere expectations for Class of 2024 at CAFA, 2024 CAFA Graduation Season does not only contain their art achievements, their enthusiasm and perseverance in creation are also reflected, which further conveys the imagination and expectations of young students as they embark on the road to the future.

Elegy on the road

The image is born with an elegy, those who see it have the mission to pass it on. No matter how “significant” an image is, it cannot breathe, sweat, bleed, secrete oil, cry, or stand upside down like people. We always remind ourselves that images are just lifeless, inorganic substances or pixel particles, but occasionally we still believe in the magic of images, perhaps the images can embody more than that.

From a cybernetic perspective, I intend to explore the connection between images and sounds, and the boundaries between reading text and electronic symbols. Cameras, synthesizers, and the recording machine that I have served as, which jointly create the logical language that achieves confrontation and resonance with human cognitive experience at a certain moment. The rhythm-guided visual logic seems to awaken our “second gene” while reading. It allows us to have a dialogue with the things in front of us by following certain rules. The rising and falling tones are symbols that describe things. This may become a new reading logic, and humans will soon become new “reading machines.” Are images containing frequency narratives still two-dimensional? In a slight slippage on the linguistic and epistemological planes, there may be a new trajectory for us to record and transmit information.
