Recently, the exhibition “Ocean on Paper: Poetry and Printmaking” was unveiled at the Art Museum of Central Academy of Fine Arts. Being a part of the cultural project “Poetry and Printmaking” for international poetry and printmaking communication, the first phase was held in 2013 with the theme of “Rivers on Paper”, and the second phase was held in 2024 with the theme of “Oceans on Paper”. The exhibition showcases 20 poems and 20 printmaking works. The images in the poems are extended in the printmaking, while the unique printmaking expressions also add new interpretations to the poems. Both of them center around the same theme in their own ways, and they converge into artistic resonance in various expressions.

Prof. Zhou Jirong from the Printmaking Department of CAFA planned this exhibition at CAFA Art Museum. He stated that, poets have led us to feel the rich artistic conception in the texts with refined language, metaphors and symbolic images. Whether it is an emotional world narrating joys and sorrows, love and desire, or depicting the tranquility of nature, poetry travels through time and space and reaches the soul with its concise expression. While printmaking artists transform reality or fantasy into vivid visual images with printmaking means on paper. The depth of each line and the choice of each color contain emotions, strength and unique beauty of printmaking. The integration of poetry and printmaking brings us an artist feast for hearts, encouraging viewers to feel the tension of poetry and poetic feeling of images.
