Lin Mao, President of CAFA , stated in his speech that:
The goal of the “School of Chinese Realistic Painting” is to establish high-caliber Chinese contemporary realistic oil paintings, respect traditional culture, emphasize humanistic and rational spirit, and pursue perfect quality of images. Adhering to this ideal, the “School of Chinese Realistic Painting” follows the changes and development of contemporary society, constantly enriches its own expressive forms, adapts to the new social aesthetic needs, while examining life and nature from the Eastern perspective, and proves the everlasting significance of realism in rationality, morality and aesthetics through persistent artistic practices. It has made outstanding contributions to the creation of thematic paintings in the new era, showing broad prospects and vigorous vitality.
Yang Feiyun, one of the founders of the School of Chinese Realistic Painting and Director of the Chinese Academy of Oil Painting from the Chinese National Academy of Arts, mentioned in his speech that:
Realism is not the purpose of realistic painting, nor is it the end of painting. Realism is an irreplaceable expressive strength and a very vital carrier of painting. In such an era that we have been surrounded by pictures, although some social functions have been replaced by images, the spirituality of the aesthetic role in representational painting is irreplaceable. The School of Chinese Realistic Painting insists on representational visual art to care for the spiritual world of contemporary society, and it maintains an irreplaceable territory of expression in the multi-dimensional world of contemporary art.
Jin Jun, Director of CAFA Art Museum, stated in his speech that:
The School of Chinese Realistic Painting is an important art group representing the achievements of oil painting in the new era. It has been active in the Chinese art field for 20 years since its establishment. With superb skills and profound insight, these artists present their delicate and rich observations of the world in accurate and artistic ways with a humanistic feeling that they cherish life and pay attention to reality. This exhibition has formed a beneficial dialogue with the historical collection of CAFA Art Museum, enabling visitors to intuitively feel the close connection between the School of Chinese Realistic Painting and the inheritance and development of Chinese realistic oil paintings.
