The term “hometown” applies to each of us, but the concept of hometown in everyone’s mind might look different. The longing for one’s hometown is “nostalgia”, which is a deep emotional connection that can manifest in a preference for food, a memory evoked by a sound, or in the search for “traces” of twined time and space created by nostalgia through the interaction of mental and sensory experiences.

In the encounter of multiple “hometowns” of these artists, nostalgia seems to be fluid as it flows through diversified memories while subtly infiltrating the creative work of each artist.
Nostalgia as a form of creative emotion, may be ever-shifting, taking on different forms in different contexts according the perception of artists. For them, nostalgia reflects both memory and their respective vision of the future, even a gentle sorrow that pervades in the space.

Through installation, video and technology, the artists featured in this exhibition have applied their own approach to expressions of the connection between memory, perception and homeland. Nostalgia in their works have become a form of nourishment, an undertone. According to the curators, artists can seek out the future while exploring their inextricable links to the past and to their homeland in “flowing nostalgia”, with the folding of time, their works act as retracted lens towards the future.
