Dolce & Gabbana is an Italian luxury fashion house co-started by the Italian designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in Mlian, Italy. Domenico Dolce studied fashion design in Sicily and had worked in his family's small clothing factory while Gabbana had no fashion education and he majored in graphic design. Integrating their last names, these two have created one of the most renowned fashion brands in the world for their charming and diversified designs.
On March 21st, 2011, they gave their first lecture at the hall of CAFAM and communicated with students and teachers from the Fashion Design Studio, CAFA. It’s organized by VOGUE magazine and the Design Department of CAFA while the Art Museum of Central Academy of Fine Arts has provided its assistance. The editor-in-chief of VOGUE Ms. Zhang served as the host and translator. These two designers have examined their career and talked about the future for fashion and design. Domenico Dolce admitted that they were no longer young while facing great pressure during the process of design but they still loved and adhered to their initial choice. When talking about why they chose CAFA as their first step on China, Stefano Gabbana stated that they would like to communicate with students who love fashion design and provide more opportunity for them. Concerning on how they treat Chinese fashion design, Stefano Gabbana stated that he has been to Shanghai before and have seen some works by Chinese designers. In the future, they would open their studio in Shanghai and welcome who is qualified and confident enough to recommend themselves. Adopting the manuscript by Wei Tengfei from Fashion Design Studio at CAFA, Domenicl Dolce also has made a piece of costume to exhibit at the end of this communication.
