Just been back from the Europe, Wang Huangsheng enjoys his trips and has unique views on every trip he makes. As he says, “Life is a journey and journey makes up a life. Enjoy your journey and life! Journey without a destination could be lovely! There ought not to be so many objectives in life, and reconcile yourself to your situation and enjoy the sunshine during your journeys.”
As for his tour of Europe, Wang visited the Venice Biennale and Art Basel. He thinks there is something new as well as an emergence of new trends in this year’s exhibitions. It’s reported that Basel has received more acclaim than Venice!
Afterwards he met with Michel Berger at the important venue in Germany of “Fluxus”—“The new YMCA” Garden and also visited Michel Berger Gallery which has a collection of more than 300 pieces by Joseph Beuys, his other collections are extremely valuable, notably the works of German Fluxus.
Joseph Beuys is a highly complicated artist with a “revolutionary” significance and a spiritual power. He once commented that “We are the revolution.” which is a very meaningful and intensified title for the exhibition. NamJune Paik has lived in Berg’s home for more than 10 years where he has been able to create a lot of works.
As curator and critic, Wang Huangsheng shared and discussed issues on Beuys, NamJune Paik and Fluxus with Mr. Michel Berger. After their consultation onthe possibilities of Beuys’ works being exhibited in Beijing, it was initially decided to hold an exhibition in November 2012 at the Art Museum of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and then to tour the exhibition nationally. To make this exhibition more academic, CAFA is going to organize international experts and scholars as well as local people to study Joseph Beuys, so that academic forums and seminars will be featured in conjunction with this exhibition.
