The summary exhibition of "Zhongshan Park Project" which is the special project of the 9th Shanghai Biennale starts on April 9 and will last until May 31, 2013 at the Power Station of Art.
"Zhongshan Park Project" was launched in September 2012 in Shanghai Zhongshan Park, reaching as far south as the Zhongshan Parks in the Hokkien cities of Zhangzhou, Xiamen, and east across the Taiwan Straits to the related organizations in Kinmen, Hualien, and Tamsui. Finally the project has moved back to the Power Station of Art.
The idea for the project can be divided into three parts, namely: how memory can be preserved and expressed; buiding of group identity; and Zhongshan Park as a negotiation ground between the values of traditional society and the needs of modern society. The project corresponds to the emphasis in the Themed Exhibition's "Republic" and "Reform" on the revisiting history.
The summary exhibition showcases the events and activities in the Zhongshan Parks and related organizations in different places from the beginning of the project. A total of 50 artists and combinations of exhibitors participate in the exhibition, and among these, 21 come from China's Taiwan, 25 from the mainland and 4 from overseas and combinations.
