Hosted by the Chinese Academy of Contemporary Art, co-organized by the Department of Sculpture and Institute of Contemporary Art of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, the exhibition by the finalists and award winners of the second “Tomorrow” Contemporary Sculpture Awards was unveiled at the Department of Sculpture of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, on April 17, 2014. Participating artists include: Zeng Lulin, Deng Yufeng, Hu Qingyan, Jiang An, Li Na, Lu Yuanliang, Lu Yunxia, Pang Hailong, Qian Liang, Tan Tian, Tong Kun, Wen Hao, Xiao Cai, Yang Guang, Yue Yanna, Zhan Yang, Zhang Xiang, Zhang Xinghua, Zhao Xiaoxiao, and Zheng Lu, who were selected from 147 submissions after two rounds of voting by the jurors, including Chen Ke, Yu Fan, Shi Jinsong, Tang Yao, Tan Xun, Jiao Xingtao, and He Guiyan.
The award ceremony of the second “Tomorrow” Contemporary Sculpture Awards was held at the exhibition hall, and was presided over by Jiao Xingtao, Professor of the Department of Sculpture of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, specially invited honored guest Zhan Wang to announce the winners. Winners of the 2014 “Tomorrow” Contemporary Sculpture Awards include: Lu Yunxia, Deng Yufeng, Zhang Xinghua, Li Na, and Tong Kun, respectively awarded 20000 RMB to support and encourage the artists engaging in sculptural art creation. Luo Zhongli, President of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Pang Maokun, Vice President of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, artist Zhan Wang, critics Yin Shuangxi, Sun Zhenhua, and Chen Mo visited the exhibition.
“Tomorrow” Contemporary Sculpture Awards is hosted by the Chinese Academy of Contemporary Art, co-organized by the Department of Sculpture and Institute of Contemporary Art of the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, for all young sculptors under the age of 45 years, engaged in contemporary sculptural creation across the nation. The award aims to encourage the young sculptors and excellent students to cling to contemporary sculptural creation and the innovation. It rewards the outstanding works for being original, with new aesthetic consciousness and cultural connotation. At the same time, the award is committed to promoting newcomers, to create backup talent for Chinese contemporary sculpture.
The exhibition will continue until May 8, 2014.
