At 2:30 pm on July 12, 2014, "Up-Youth -China Young Artists Exhibition 2014" opened on the 37th floor at the Beijing Times Art Museum. The exhibition is hosted by the Beijing Times Art Museum and acts as the start-up ceremony of China Young Artists Exhibition project, Liu Yan, Executive Director of Beijing Times Art Museum, An Yuanyuan, Deputy Director of National Art Museum of China, Ms. Zhou Hanping from the Department of Arts of the Ministry of Culture, Libor Secka, Ambassador of Czech Embassy, Cultural Counselor Makin from Czech Embassy, Eli Klein, founder of Klein Sun Gallery (America), Yang Yang, founder of Gallery Yang, as well as the three curators of the exhibition Liu Libin, Lu Mingjun, and Hu Bin respectively gave an address at the opening ceremony. In addition, Shu Kewen, Feng Boyi, Wu Qiong, Wang Liesheng, Sui Jianguo, Zhan Wang, Cai Jin, Cui Xiuwen, and Chen Wenling also attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
Youth is the eternal theme of the times, while in the last five years the Beijing Times Art Museum has always served as an observer of the young artists and the academic researcher so as to constantly focus on the growth of the new generation, this exhibition is the continuation of the previous numerous exhibitions and activities with a related theme. This exhibition uses up-youth form to condense multi forces – three curators, three art institutions, and three groups of trans-boundary scholars – from the elaborate to the in-depth, selecting more than 200 works by 45 promising young artists, divided into three sections of an exhibition: “Stop! Mistake: A limited Self Provocation”, “Ambiguity! Branch Road: Countless Narrative Forms”, and “From Crime to Position: Subject Construction of Young People”, showing the different characteristics and features of Chinese youths in the rapidly changing times, with different themes.
After the end of the opening ceremony, the Beijing Times Art Museum also invited Hu Bin (Associate Professor of the College of Arts and Humanities, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts), Zhang Ning (Director of the Research Center of Contemporary Chinese Literature and Culture, Beijing Normal University), Wang Min’an (Professor of the Cultural Research Institute of the Capital Normal University) had the first cross-border dialogue of the exhibition – “The Narration of Youth and Reality”. The museum will also successively launch two stereoscopic dialogues between the scholars on a related theme, in order to promote the thinking on contemporary art of the young artists and the public.
"Up-Youth – China Young Artists Exhibition 2014" will last from July 12 to July 31.
