The award-winning film of Tsai Ming-liang about a homeless single father on the streets of Taipei struggling to support his two children will be shown at the Guangdong Times Museum. Tsai has said that he hoped the film would be treated as a piece of art and screened in museums and art galleries, instead of in movie theaters. Tsai, who has refused to make commercial films, has long expressed frustration over popular taste and box office returns.
Stray Dogs won the Grand Jury Prize at the 70th Venice Film Festival in September, 2013 and earned Tsai the Best Director prize at Taiwan's Golden Horse Awards in November that year. The film's lead actor Lee Kang-sheng also won Best Actor at the Golden Horse Awards and the Asia-Pacific Film Festival for his role as the single father who earns a pittance on the streets by holding up advertisement signs for a real estate development company.About the exhibition
