Sun Jie & Jie Sun, the solo exhibition by Dutch Chinese artist Jie Sun will open at Mao Space this Saturday December 5th. The exhibition features more than 10 series of representative works from the pieces created by Jie Sun in the past 5 years (2010-2015). Among them, there are works like "Camouflage" and "Big fish" which already are permanent collections of Museum of Fine Arts Houston and CODA Museum The Netherlands. His latest series, YOUNG & BEAUTIFUL, collaborated with the international crystal manufacturer PRECIOSA are also included. In addition, the series is shot by Dutch photographer Thomas Aangreenbrug.
Jie Sun is a pioneer contemporary jewelry artist/Chinese designer of Dutch nationality, and also a contemporary design curator. He was born in Guiyang, China. He has solid education in Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing (BA) and Sandberg Institute (Master of Gerrit Rietveld Academy) in Amsterdam. He is the winner of 19th (2012) ENJOIA 'T' Award for Contemporary Jewelry in Spain and the winner of PREZIOSA YOUNG 2015 in Florence, and he has been awarded the Knowledge Talent by Dutch Ministry of Culture. His works has been a part of permanent collection of CODA Museum The Netherlands, Fondazion Cominelli Contemporary Jewelry Foundation and Huston Museum of Fine Art.
