Exhibition View
Recently, the “Collection Exhibition of Artworks and Archives on the First National Exhibition of Fine Arts (1949)” was unveiled at the gallery on the fourth-floor of the CAFA Art Museum. Curated by Professor Cao Qinghui from the School of Humanities at CAFA, The exhibition was hosted by the School of Humanities, CAFA, co-organized by the CAFA Art Museum.

Based on the collection of “Artworks and Archives Retained from the Art (Fine Arts) Exhibition organized by the National Congress of Literature and Art in 1949” from the School of Humanities, the exhibition is a research exhibition on modern art which was independently planned by the School of Humanities of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. With the support of over ten exhibits from the collection of CAFA Art Museum, the exhibition is divided into four sections: the preface unit "The First National Exhibition of Fine Arts in Documents and Photos”, two themed units "Art Exhibition of the National Congress of Literary and Art Workers of China, Works", "National Exhibition of Fine Arts Held by the National Congress of Literature and Art Workers, Works", and “Other Works Exhibited at First National Exhibition of Fine Arts”, presenting a total of 74 artists (authors), 39 institutes(units), and 177 pieces/groups of works and archives related to the cultural event of “The First National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1949”.

"The artworks and archives on the First National Exhibition of Fine Arts (1949) collected by the School of Humanities of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in a historical opportunity are of more significance than the First National Exhibition of Fine Arts in China itself. Rather than saying that we collected an exhibition, we have collected an epoch-making cultural event. From this perspective, a new literary and artistic trend reflecting on the people that was closely related to the ideological life and visual logic in each of us was converging, growing and surging,” said Huang Xiaofeng, Dean of School of Humanities at CAFA.
